Bike cops make DWI arrest

On Monday May 31, 2010, around 12:42 a.m., two Henderson Police Department Bicycle Patrol officers noticed a white vehicle coming down Parham Street playing music very loudly.

The officers followed behind the white vehicle and activated the blue lights on their bicycles, followed by their sirens. The vehicle pulled over for the two officers on bicycles.

After speaking with the driver, Dennis Donald Harris of 102 Heather Way in Henderson, North Carolina, the officers took Harris into custody on charges of driving while intoxicated.

Another HPD officer in a patrol vehicle was called to the scene to transport Harris to the Vance County Courthouse.

Harris was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving while license revoked, possession of drug paraphernalia, and violation of the city’s loud music ordinance. He was also found to have two orders for arrest on the NC AWARE warrant system.

Harris was given a $1,000 secured bond and transported to the Vance County Jail.
