Joint city/county meeting rescheduled for July 7
The Joint Henderson City/Vance County Intergovernmental meeting that was canceled last week has been rescheduled for Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at City Hall. No agenda for the meeting was provided. City Hall is located at 134 Rose Avenue in Henderson, North Carolina.
HPD “walk-throughs” lead to shoplifing arrests
In an effort to address recent reports of shoplifting and larceny at local stores, officers of the Henderson Police Department have been increasing the number of “walk-through” patrols made in retail businesses.

Etheridge calls for unemployment benefit extension
Washington, D.C. -— U.S. Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) voted yesterday for H.R. 5618, the Restoration of Emergency Unemployment Compensation Act, which would have extended unemployment insurance benefits to tens of thousands of North Carolina families in need.

Council approves electronic gaming ordinance
The Henderson City Council voted unanimously to approve an electronic gaming ordinance which will strictly regulate the location and conduct of games such as “on-line sweepstakes” in the city of Henderson.
