Thursday’s open line

We read with interest the editorial in yesterday’s Daily Dispatch about Henderson’s two American Legion posts which are apparently defined by the ethnicity of their respective members.

My grandfather belonged to an organization called Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America. I don’t think he belonged to it to disassociate himself from non-Jews, nor did he ever tell me that he had been turned away from any other organization of veterans. I think it was just his way of expressing solidarity with fellow WWII vets and Jews and the same time.

Just something to think about. Here’s your open line.
