FAITH fund raiser July 16
The pet rescue organization For Animals In Trouble, there’s Hope (FAITH) will be holding a spaghetti plate fund raiser on Friday, July 16, 2010 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Special county commission meeting July 15
The Vance County Board of Commissioners will meet in a special called meeting on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the Commissioners’ Conference Room, Vance County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina. The purpose of the meeting is to address matters involving the Neighborhood Stabilization Program and other items as needed.
Arrest made in Dante Champion homicide
On July 13, 2010 members of the Henderson Police Department Criminal Investigations Division arrested Antonio Townes, 17, of 118 North Street in Henderson, North Carolina.

On July 10, 2010 around 2:14 a.m. officers with Henderson Police Department responded to the 200 block of Pearl Street in Henderson, North Carolina in reference to a person that was shot.

Intergov committee hears presentation on 911
County Manager Jerry Ayscue prefaced the presentation by Emergency Management Director Brian Short by referring to previous discussions on jointly-funded Henderson and Vance County programs, specifically the criteria used to determine how the programs are split.

Man arrested on weapon charges
On July 7, 2010 officers with the Henderson Police Department arrested Jerome Vernon Manson of 179 Catherine Weldon Road in Henderson, North Carolina for assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon into occupied property, and felony conspiracy.
Man arrested for khat possession
On July 7, 2010, officers with the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division along with the Narcotics Unit arrested Abdil Nasser Almuwallad, 21 at AA Foodmart, 200 W. Andrews Avenue in Henderson, North Caroline for possession with the intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver a Schedule I controlled substance.

County to sell Vance Manor building
County Manager Jerry Ayscue proposed during Tuesday’s regular meeting of the Vance County Board of Commissioners that the two parties who had expressed an interest in obtaining the Vance Manor building be offered options to buy for $3,000 each.
