2009 state of Vance health report issued
Jackie Sergent of the Granville-Vance District Health Department presented the Vance County Board of Commissioners with the 2009 State of County Health Report during its regular meeting on Monday evening.
Wednesday’s open line
There has been a great deal of speculation about the fall suffered by Vance County Commissioner Scott Hughes, both on Home in Henderson and by more mundane media. ABC Composite Board reappoints Clark, Hannon
The Vance County Board of Commissioners began its regular July meeting by first convening as the Alcohol Board of Control Composite Board in order to appoint/reappoint members to the Alcohol Board of Control (ABC) and to appoint the chair of that board as well.

Henderson Collegiate breaks ground
Henderson Collegiate Director Eric Sanchez, fourth-grade teacher and Dean of Instruction Carice Sanchez, Chair of the Henderson Collegiate Board of Directors Nancy Jo Smith, and assorted dignitaries were gathered yesterday morning near the site of the Vance Manor House to break ground for the recently-chartered Henderson Collegiate Academy.

Etheridge votes for Wall St. reform legislation
Washington, D.C. — Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-Lillington) today voted in favor of H.R. 4173, the Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, which passed the House by a vote of 237-192.

Franklinton man arrested for statutory rape
On June 22, 2010 after a investigation conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, Victor Hernandez 61 Happy Valley in Franklinton, North Carolina was arrested and charged with three counts of statutory rape of a fourteen year old.
