On August 15, 2010 Simmons arrested Jatavious Reid after responding to a daytime breaking and entering that was reportedly in-progress at a residence on South Bullock Street.

Simmons arrived at the residence when the resident/owner reported her concern that someone had tried to break into her house while she was inside.  The resident told Simmons she had seen the suspect run through the back door of her home and then flee from the scene on foot.

With a description provided by the victim, Simmons began a search with other squad members by surrounding the area and setting up a perimeter.  Other officers and area residents reported sightings of the suspect running in the neighborhood, and these reports and sightings helped narrow the search area until a foot pursuit ensued.

Simmons caught the suspect and detained him. The resident who reported the break-in quickly identified the man Reid as the one who had just broken into her home.

Simmons charged Jatavious Reid with the felony offense of breaking and entering, and Reid was ordered confined under an appearance bond of $21,000. Reid had been arrested on January 29, 2010 and charged with the January 13, 2010 daytime breaking and entering of an apartment at Highland Green Apartments. He was out of jail awaiting trial at the time Simmons arrested him for this latest known crime that Reid has allegedly committed.
