County commission to hold special meeting Monday

County to consider moratorium on outdoor firing ranges

Home in Henderson was just notified via United States Postal Service that Vance County Board of Commissioners Chair Danny Wright has called a special meeting of the commission for Monday, September 20, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Commissioner’s Conference Room, County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina.

The memorandum that arrived by mail was dated September 16, 2010.

The meeting is to allow citizen input in the form of a public hearing on enacting a moratorium on outdoor firing ranges in Vance County.

After action is taken on the proposed moratorium, citizen input will be solicited regarding the development of an ordinance regulated outdoor firing ranges in Vance County.

Commissioners plan to schedule a public haring on the matter for their regular October 4, 2010 meeting.

The commission will also enter into closed session on a legal matter concerned a “claimed debt owed and other attorney client information.”

The special called meeting will conflict with a special called meeting being held by the Henderson City Council on the same date and time regarding a police review board. That meeting was announced by Henderson City Manager Ray Griffin on Monday, September 13, 2010 during the city council’s regular monthly meeting.
