Two homicides in two days this weekend


On September 24, 2010 around 11:00 p.m., officers with the Henderson Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to The Variety and Tobacco Mart located on E. Andrews Ave in Henderson North Carolina in reference to a subject who had allegedly been shot.

Officers arrived on scene to find Jamario Neal, 19, of Henderson, North Carolina, lying face down on the ground with injuries related to a gunshot wound. Neal was transported by Vance County EMS to a local hospital for treatment. Shortly after arrival at the hospital, Neal was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed at the time of the report. The investigation is continuing by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

In an unrelated event, on September 26, 2010, at approximately 3:04 a.m. officers with the Henderson Police Department’s Patrol Division respond to a report of shots fired in the area of Arch Street and Chavasse Ave in Henderson North Carolina.

Upon arrival by police, the victim was found lying face down on the side of the roadway suffering from injuries related to a gunshot wound. The victim was identified as Corey Bullock, 27, of Henderson North Carolina.

Bullock was transported by Vance County EMS to a local hospital for treatment. Shortly after arrival at the hospital, Bullock was pronounced dead.

Police do not believe that the two homicides are related.
