Thursday’s open line

After a surprisingly large number of years, the Littlest Editor has finally discovered the word “ain’t” and has been sprinkling it into his conversations liberally. I’ve been correcting him, and he’s been accepting the corrections — for now. I’m wondering when he’ll mount the “It’s in the dictionary!” defense that got me exactly nowhere with Charles Dickens-reading grammarian of a mother when I tried to start saying “ain’t” at home.

As it turns out, dictionaries list slang too.

It’s nice to know that some things don’t change. Here’s your open line.
