Disaster declared for eastern NC
Washington, DC -— Congressman G. K. Butterfield applauded today’s federal disaster declaration by President Obama for people affected by the recent storms in eastern North Carolina.

City’s Public Safety Committee to meet Oct. 19
The Henderson City Council’s Public Safety Committee will meet on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers in City Hall, 134 Rose Avenue, in Henderson, North Carolina. The purpose of the meeting is to continue discussions on the graffiti ordinance and the animal control ordinance. The meeting is open to the public.
Thursday’s open line
The Littlest Editor and I both got the flu vaccine on Tuesday, and at time of posting we both feel terrible. I don’t remember feeling the same way last year, and I got the H1N1 and pneumonia vaccine on top of it. Has anyone else noticed the same thing? Let us know on today’s open line.

HPD sergeant arrested for larceny
Today at approximately 7:00 p.m. Detective Sergeant Kendall Riddick, 35, was arrested by members of the Henderson Police Department and the NC State Bureau of Investigation for larceny.
County general gov committee meets Wednesday
The Vance County Board of Commissioners’ General Government Committee well meet Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. in the office of County Manager Jerry Ayscue. The County Manager’s officer is located in the County Administration Building, 122 Young Street in Henderson, North Carolina.
