EDC loses director through “mutual agreement”

In an email sent to media at 4:51 p.m. this afternoon, Vance County Manager Jerry Ayscue announced that Guido Esselborn is no longer the Economic Development Director of the Henderson-Vance Economic Development Commission.

According to the release, Esselborn’s departure from the EDC is by “mutual agreement” and retroactive to October 13, 2010.

The cause for Esselborn’s departure was not released. The rendering of such information would be in violation of North Carolina law.

Esselborn’s tenure at the EDC was short-lived. He took the helm of the newly-reformed organization in June of this year after the retirement of longtime director Benny Finch retired in 2008. He was the top pick of a five-person hiring committee among 44 candidates, one of whom was the interim director from the time of Finch’s retirement.
