Rep. Wray’s Raleigh Report

Thank you to all of you who exercised your right to vote and supported me at the polls Tuesday.

While I am now a member of the minority party in the General Assembly, I will continue to stand up for you and for the things that I believe in — good education for our children, sound fiscal policies for our state and building a favorable economic climate for business. My intention is to work with any other legislator or official who shares these priorities, regardless of party affiliation. We will all have challenges ahead of us in the coming year. We must once again balance the budget, as we always do, and continue to move our state forward with meaningful reform. This year we have the added duty that comes following every national census. We will have to draw new legislative and congressional districts. This process is critical in helping to make sure that you and your neighbors are properly represented in government.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to address these issues on your behalf. If you have any questions or if I can be of service to you, please contact me. Thank you as always for your interest in North Carolina and state government.

Notes

North Carolina remains the state with the “Top Business Climate,” according to Site Selection magazine. It is the sixth year in a row and the ninth time in 10 years that the state has taken the top honor in the annual ranking by Site Selection, one of the nation’s premier economic development magazines. As part of the ranking, the magazine surveys corporate executives that help businesses select new locations. This year, those executives ranked the Tar Heel state as the top for ease of doing business.

Global food and beverage giant PepsiCo will expand its existing facility in Forsyth County by adding sales and service call center operations. The company plans to create 195 jobs and invest $7.5 million during the next three years in Winston-Salem.

Meetings/Events

Please invite me to attend your county, city, community or civic, etc. meetings or events.

As I’ve said many times before, I hope you will continue to let me know how you feel about the issues that are being debated by the North Carolina Legislature and the challenges you and your family are facing each day.

By working together, we can make Northampton, Vance and Warren Counties and all regions of North Carolina a better place to live, work and raise a family.

Please remember that you can use the General Assembly’s website to look up bills, view lawmaker biographies and access other information. The site also contains detailed information about the state budget and legislative schedules.
