Man arrested for shoplifting


On Thursday December 23, 2010 Officer D. Ragland of the Henderson Police Department responded to Belk’s Department Store located at 350 N. Cooper Drive in Henderson in response to a reported larceny.

The store’s loss prevention officer had detained an individual for an alleged larceny of two pair of earrings valued at $56.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had removed the anti-theft tag from the earrings and then left the premises. The store detective confronted the suspect and had him return to the building.

William Russell Hundley of 393 Yancey Road Norlina was charged with one count of misdemeanor larceny and one felony count of larceny from a merchant by removing, destroying, or deactivating a component of an anti-shoplifting or inventory control device to prevent the activation of any anti-shoplifting or inventory control device in violation of N.C.G.S. 14-72.11(2).
