North Carolina’s Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) state office announced recently that Senior Police Officer Angela Feingold with the Henderson Police Department received the MADD Underage Drinking Prevention Hero Award for accomplishments during 2010.

Feingold’s award stems from the CounterAct program she teaches at several Vance County elementary school fifth grades. The CounterAct program is a curriculum designed to help young people oppose the influences of violence, alcohol, and drugs.

Regarding its 2010 awards, MADD representatives wrote that “we are privileged to work hand in hand with law enforcement and prosecutors daily throughout the year, partnering to make our streets and highways safer for all North Carolinians. MADD NC wants to take this opportunity to honor those law enforcement/prosecutor professionals who have excelled in making our state’s roadways safer for all of us.

“Our annual awards this year emphasized what law enforcement and criminal justice professionals are doing above and beyond their job requirements. The nominees have shown dedication and involvement in their community, innovative and creative program involvement, belief in MADD’s mission and dedication to the ideals of law enforcement and criminal justice.”

The awards ceremony and reception was held at the Renaissance Center (North Hills) in Raleigh, North Carolina earlier this month.
