Man arrested for robbery, assault at Kerr Lake Inn


On March 13, 2011 around 11:38 p.m. officers with the Henderson Police Department responded to the Kerr Lake Inn, 200 Parham Road in Henderson in reference to a robbery and assault that occurred at the hotel.

Upon arrival, officers found the clerk, Jashubhai Patel, with several lacerations to his neck. Patel also had some other injuries from where the assailant struck him.

After further investigation by members of the Henderson Police Department, the alleged assailant, George Shelton, 46, of 304 Whitten Ave Apartment 2 in Henderson was arrested and charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, and attempted murder.

Shelton received a $250,000 secured bond pending a court hearing on April 18, 2011. An undisclosed amount of U.S. currency was taken from the business.
