We hope everyone had a great weekend. My wife and I attended the Arts Appreciation Day just a few doors down from our office Saturday morning. It was good to see the downtown park full of people and activities. Afterwards we watched the Pacquaio v Mosley fight, and she was quite proud of Manny’s win by decision in the end, looks like Mr. Mojo Rison called it right.
Today we will draw a random comment from the Friday / Weekend open line and will update this post with the winner. I’ll also contact them via email with the email address we have on file, so be sure you have access to that account to receive the actual gift certificate.
Update – Winner Announced – Jennifer! Via a highly scientific method of typing the commenters names from this past weekends open lines and printing them out, cutting them out with scissors, placing in a box and having our technician Stephen draw a name out we have sent Jennifer her gift certificate. Do enjoy!
…So anyone else being taken over by cicadas? This is the first emergence I’ve seen.
Congratulations to Jennifer, the winner of a $20 Gift Certificate to Don Lorenzo’s. Please check your email and do reply that you’ve received. Enjoy!
Here we are in the swing of spring. I wonder when the dog days of summer will set in?
Congratulations Jennifer!
Mr. Mojo for me there are just a few weeks per year when the weather is perfect. I just stepped outside with a customer and noticed that today must be one of those perfect weather days for me. Too soon though it will be too hot for me to stand and the AC will be coming on. Everyone else must be enjoying it also, Garnett Street has been right busy today with the walkers.
YAY ME!!!. I am so excited. I can’t wait to have lunch at Don Lorenzo’s.
Congrats Jennifer! DL’s is awesome hope you enjoy it. Enchiladas Racheras is one amazing dish out there. Phil, I am with you on the weather. The temperatures recently have been phenomenal, just wish the allergy/sinus stuff would relax a bit more although it is nothing like early April. Glad to hear about some foot traffic downtown. We need more of it. Wish traffic would get so thick down that way due to commerce that the city would have to think of putting a parking deck in there!
Someone called the office about cicadas today.
Try the Harvest Restaurant in Oxford if you are looking for a local place for an intimate dinner for two. This new restaurant in Oxford is on a par with the better places to dine in Durham and Chapel Hill. Dinner is available only on Friday and Saturday nights although I understand lunch is served daily. Reservations are recommended. The menu will vary depending on availability of fresh meats, fish, and vegetables. My dinner was well prepared and well presented on real plates with real tableware and adequate time to enjoy the appetizer before the entrée appeared. The desserts were divine the coffee flavorful and freshly brewed. The wines are reasonably priced and I understand they may coordinate their wine selection with the monthly wine tastings as Stovall’s Gifts. Bon appétit.
Michael, if you do not mind my asking, what did your party order? Where abouts in Oxford is this place located? Thank you!
Mr. Rison, I do not mind sharing last weekend’s menu, since I have a copy of the menu. Harvest offered four choices of appetizers, five entrees, and two desserts. My appetizer was the spinach and mixed green salad, with strawberries, radish matchsticks, hazelnuts, sugar snaps, shaved red onion, crumbled buttremike blue cheese and a strawberry balsamic vinaigrette. My entrée was the Sicilian veal rolls with prosciutto and asiago cheese, roasted garlic polenta and sautéed swiss chard. My companion enjoyed the same appetizer. She has the grilled tri-tip steak with chimichurri sauce, herbed red potatoes and asparagus.
Address 205 Willamsboro St (919.603.1460). The CVS is next door.
ok Michael.
you’re trying to tempt me.
and succeeded.
Sounds delicious, Mr. Bobbitt. Very much appreciate you sharing. My significant other and I will indeed be dining at Harvest soon.
