Governor Perdue vetoed a bill Monday that required a woman to wait 24 hours and attend a counseling session before having an abortion. North Carolina is one of 16 states that do not require specialized counseling before an abortion. Perdue said, “This bill is a dangerous intrusion into the confidential relationship that exists between women and their doctors. The bill contains provisions that are the most extreme in the nation in terms of interfering with that relationship. Physicians must be free to advise and treat their patients based on their medical knowledge and expertise and not have their advice overridden by elected officials seeking to impose their own ideological agenda on others.”
Have at it Tuesday Open Line
So who owns the house on Carolina Ave with no smoke detectors? Or are we not allowed to ask for fear of being hauled into court?
I wonder what ol’ Bev will be doing after next year on the unemployment line?
The Henderson Dispatch reports North Carolina Investment Group at 1034 S. William St. They have a good article about it including statements from the company that says they recently installed smoke detectors, however the fire chief said none were found.
North Carolina Investment Group is a nice, professional-sounding name. I wonder who the people are behind the name.
On NC Sec State A Mr. Stevenson is listed as Manager PO Box 963 27536
I agree with Lucy van Pelt–.
the owner of that business if none other than the same guy who was charged with buying stolen goods from a couple of thieves a couple of years ago. Not sure if he was ever convicted of possession of stolen goods but I know that the guy and girl that was stealing the ‘stuff’ to sell to greg stevenson were convicted. Nice to have such an “honorable” landlord huh? Only N Hunnerson!
There was a Kenneth G. Stevenson arrested for a Class H Felony in 2006 in Vance County for possessing of stolen goods. I do not know if its the same person or not. The owner of the Investment Group is also listed as Kenneth G. Stevenson. This owner also owns other companies here in Henderson named General Properties, Pristine Housing, Prestigious Housing, Elite Housing, and K & G Holdings.

It only gets better–it looks as if the new Vance County Schools Superintendent may be named tomorrow–anyone think they’ll bring in someone from outside???
Mr. Hart if you guessed that they are indeed the same person then you would be RIGHT. As far as VCS naming a new superintendent how much do you want to bet that it’s r. gregory. The timing is good too considering that the High Schools just made headlines for the dropout rate decreasing. As far as r. gregory is concerned I don’t see where he could claim anything to do with those figures b/c last time I checked he was one of the many “asst” superintendents but his “main” duties were the buildings & the upkeep of the school’s facilities.
I feel sorry for anyone who has children within the VCS system b/c it is very ‘top heavy’ if you know what I mean. How many “asst” superintendents and secretaries does one school system need? But like most school systems when they talk of cuts they always talk about cutting teacher assistants and other classified personnel but very rarely do they cut some of the layers of ‘fat’ at the top of the flow chart. Wonder what the lady who has an office over on Graham Ave. would do about her tax situation if she were to be laid off considering she made the infamous list of tax delinquents in the Daily Dispatch last week. I think she may be the Testing Coordinator for VCS. How do you tell kids about ‘accountability/responsibility’ when you don’t pay your taxes…..at least not on time. Must be nice to live in that big ole’ house in Cobblestone?
Note to post 8, zebras do not change their stripes!
This Kenneth Stevenson gentleman (through his companies) also owes over $43,000 in back taxes to the city on 89 rental properties
