Railroad Crossings Work In Franklin County Will Cause Temporary Detours


RALEIGH — CSX will be replacing several railroad crossings over state roads in Franklin County over a two-week period, starting on Tuesday, July 26. The crossings will be temporarily closed a minimum of two days each in the following order:

  • Joyner Street, Franklinton
  • Hawkins Street, Franklinton
  • Hicks Road, Franklinton
  • Bert Winston Road, just east of U.S. 1

CSX will detour traffic around the closures.

NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.

Citizens can obtain travel information in several ways. They can call 511, the state’s toll free information line or visit the NCDOT website. NCDOT also offers travel information on Twitter. Another option is NCDOT Mobile, a phone-friendly version of the NCDOT website. To access it, type “m.ncdot.gov” into the browser of your smartphone. Then, bookmark it to save for future reference. NCDOT Mobile is compatible with the iPhone, Android, and some newer Blackberry phones.
