Friday / Weekend Open Line

This weekend hosts a fun filled Saturday in Henderson with 3 great events.

The Smart Ducky Race.  Watch as Garnett Street is closed off, filled with a river of water, and a cement truck full of up to 5,000 yellow rubber ducks are dumped in the street and race down the river.  The first 3 ducks to the end are drawn and people who sponsored those ducks will win a cash prize.  See more details at www.smartduckyderby.com  This is a unique event, even if you dont want to pay the $5.00 for a duck ticket, you can still come out and enjoy the free event and watch and run with the ducks as they swim downtown.  Can’t say that too often that you’ve seen the major downtown street of a city closed off for a huge rubber duck race.  More activiites will be around for the kids as well, bounce houses, a stage with local talent, etc.

In the right next door library will be the Bennet Perry Archaeology Day event, with artifacts from around the area displayed and explained.  Bring your artifacts for identification.  If you aren’t sure what kind of artifacts are in the area, think arrowheads, civil war items etc.  For more info check www.arrowheads.com

And finally we have a 5k run / walk starting at Maria Parham Medical Center.  All proceeds will benefit the Maria Parham Healthcare Foundation whose mission is to promote healthcare in our four-county area  Activities include “The Foundation 5? 5K Race, Heart Healthy Mile & Kid’s Dash at Maria Parham Medical Center with same day registration beginning at 7:30am.  For more info check www.runtheeast.com

Check our Calendar for the events as well, and if you know any events for the weekend, coming up soon, or anytime whatsoever, please let us know so we can add it to our calendar.  Wether your event is closing down mainstreet or closing down your back yard let us know so we can help spread the word.  submit@homeinhenderson.com
