Monday Open Lines

This weeks weekly address, President Obama explains that states will have greater flexibility to find innovative ways of improving the education system, so that we can raise standards in our classrooms and prepare the next generation to succeed in the global economy.

This past weekend hosted numerous events in Henderson, we hope you enjoyed coming out to downtown for the kids day and archaeology activities and participated in the Foundation 5k race at Maria Parham Medical Center.  If you didn’t come to the events, we’re curious as to why.  What can downtown do to entice you to come more often?

Tonight hosts a city council meeting at city hall as well.  The Vance County BoC will have a committee meeting regarding zoning.  It’s just a meeting, no action will be taken.

In other news a North Carolina man crawled four days across the Utah desert after breaking his leg on a solo hike, inspired by a Hollywood movie about a man who cut off his own arm to save himself after being trapped by a boulder in the same canyon.  You can read more here.

Welcome to the Monday Open Lines!
