VGCC Offers Administrative Assistant Training


Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for an upcoming “Administrative Assistant Essentials” course, starting Oct. 31 on the college’s main campus in Vance County. The popular course that trains people for jobs in today’s computer-driven offices will meet Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until Noon, through February 10, 2012.

Students will receive a total of 180 hours of instruction in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher 2007, including practice projectsthat utilize key features of the those programs. The course will teach the student to integrate the various applications with one another to fully utilize their interface capabilities.

“This course is excellent for people who need additional computer skills or for unemployed workers who need to learn Microsoft Office programs in order to re-enter the job market,” said VGCC Computer Center coordinator Laura Peace. “Every worker in the workforce today must have good computer skills to remain competitive and to perform everyday tasks.”

The cost of the course includes a registration fee of $175, plus $6 in other college fees.
