President Obama and the First Lady ended Veterans Day aboard the USS Carl Vinson where they watched the University of North Carolina men’s basketball team defeat Michigan State University in the first-ever Carrier Classic.  This was also the ship that carried the body of Osama Bin Laden to his burial at sea.  And Spoiler:  North Carolina defeated Michigan State in the historic match by 67-55.

Last week, almost 14,000 federal government properties were identified that sit unused and unneeded, costing taxpayers millions of dollars a year in operating and maintenance expenses. The Administration has taken unprecedented steps to reduce this stock of unused property and is on track to save $3.5 billion by the end of Fiscal Year 2012.  To see a sampling of this unneeded and unused real estate, check out the interactive map, which shows some of the progress the Administration is making on getting rid of excess property.

A special Veterans day Weekly Message was released, President Obama spoke from the USS Carl Vinson in San Diego during Veterans Day, and calls on all Americans to rededication themselves to serving our brave men and women in uniform as well as they have served us.  A slideshow was put together highlighting moments of the Administration with the military.
