Gary Morgan; Spritual Reflections of an Economic & Political Nature; Government Employees & The Rise Of A Powerful Social Class
GOVERNMENT DEPENDENTS have fast become the most powerful social class in the United States and all of western culture. And while we have long identified and often complained about two groups in this class, those being Social Security and Welfare recipients, another and perhaps even more powerful group exists. How more powerful you might ask? . They make and enforce our laws!
This component of the Government Dependent Class is “Government Employees”. In this context, Government Employee class members can be broadly defined as individuals who are (1) currently employed by a government or government dependent agency/organization, (2) retired government employees receiving a government pension, and (3)associated and financially dependent upon the government employee (examples: spouse, dependent child, etc.). As with the other government dependent sub-classes of recipients; personal financial increase requires a direct increase in public funding in the form of tax revenue. Further, each of these sub-classes have spawned thousands of other government “grant funded” dependent organizations that further draw on the public’s resources. And because of the sheer number and representative power of people involved, our country’s laws, programs, and hence public funding are being directed more and more towards this specific social class.
According to recent Department of Labor, Census and other statistical sources, government employees (federal, state, local & military) account for 25-28 million (18-20%) of the United States 140 million total active workforce. Combine this number with the millions of retired government and military retirees, Social Security and Welfare recipients, grant dependent non-profits, and their related parties (supportive family and dependents), and you have a massive politically active group that not only can easily sway political elections, but also has control of the system that determines how government resources (taxes) are distributed. The magnitude of this truth can be easily seen when you consider that only 90.6 million citizens voted in the 2010 election cycle and that the majority of the citizens casting votes in 2010 very likely had a direct personal financial interest in maintaining or increasing government expenditures.
It may be inevitable that, regardless of the potential collapse of our economy and our stature as the greatest of all civilizations, none of these Government Dependent groups will voluntarily relinquish control or their perceived right to financial security and increase. It is after all the human sin nature to value self over the needs of others. And as both political parties fight to win favor by promising that the “ME” in each of us is the priority, we fall deeper into the abyss. In modern terms we have come to call this Humanism: the secular doctrine or way of life centered on individual human interests. The same old lie with a new name, and only a return to the Godly values that established America will alter our present course to destruction. We shall soon (very soon) see.
