Vance-Granville Community College’s 34th annual Endowment Fund Golf Tournament hit a new record total by raising $125,000 to help fund scholarships for deserving students and support the mission of the college. Exit 233 On I-85 Closing (Again)
Work on the Interstate 85 rehab project in Vance and Warren counties will require the closure of a pair of ramps on the northbound side at exit 233 (U.S. 1/401), the closest North Carolina exit to the Virginia state line. The initial closure was supposed to be this week, but poor weather postponed that move. Instead, both the on and off ramps for Wise Road are now scheduled to close on Monday, March 5. Multiple Fire Departments Respond to Fire at Henderson Factory
Multiple fire departments responded Monday morning to a fire at a Henderson factory, authorities said. The fire was reported at ETC Henderson Inc., at 601 Wakefield Ave. The janitorial supply company made mops, brooms, scrubbing and polishing pads. Vance-Granville Community College is now accepting applications from incoming first-year students for the “Summer Bridge” program. Summer Bridge is a three-week program designed to enhance a student’s transition from high school to college and prepare them to be successful during their freshman year at VGCC. VGCC offers Spring Mini-Term Classes
Although the Spring 2017 semester at Vance-Granville Community College is underway, there are still opportunities to register for a variety of classes offered during “mini-terms.” These sections start later during the semester, but end on May 8, at the same time as the full 16-week courses, and they include just as many hours of instruction as under the traditional schedule. Vance County is pleased to announce the hiring of Keith Duncan as the County Fire Marshal beginning on November 14th.
