VGCC to offer Zumba class at Main Campus

Zumba, the Latin-inspired dance-fitness program that has quickly become popular throughout the region and around the world, is coming to Vance-Granville Community College. A Zumba class is scheduled to be held in the Civic Center on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6 until 7 p.m., May 21 through June 27.

Salonia House of Oxford will serve as the instructor for the class. A member of the worldwide Zumba Instructor Network, House is licensed to teach four different levels of Zumba. She has been teaching Zumba fitness classes in the Henderson area since 2010. House emphasized that this class is open to everyone, regardless of gender, age, fitness level or familiarity with Zumba. House said that essentially, Zumba is simply about getting fit through dancing, making it an accessible way for people to improve their health and well-being. “I am so excited to be granted the opportunity to do what I love — dance and work out!” House said. “Zumba is a wonderful way to reach your fitness goals and have fun at the same time.”

The cost of the class will be a $50 registration fee, plus a $3 campus security/access fee.
