VGCC offers Physical Therapy Aide training at night

Vance-Granville Community College is currently registering students for Physical Therapy Aide training. The course will be offered Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., May 29 through Sept. 20. Classes will meet in room 5218 of Building 5 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

Among VGCC’s newest offerings, the Physical Therapy Aide course provides an overview of the profession and covers key aspects of a career in physical therapy, such as physical therapy roles, practice setting, the American Physical Therapy Association, laws and policies, regulations and more. Students will learn about medical terminology, patient charts, musculoskeletal anatomy, thermal and electrical modalities, ambulating techniques, spine safety, range of motion exercises, strengthening and cardiovascular exercise, massage, facility cleanliness, interpersonal skills, and ethics. Physical therapy aides, under the supervision of a physical therapist or a physical therapy assistant, help make therapy sessions productive.

The instructor for the training is Amanda Forsythe.

The cost of the course includes a registration fee of $175, and a $3 campus access/security fee.
