Vance County Schools – SVHS Finish in Math Contest
The Southern Vance High School Mathematics Team competed in the 26th N.C. Regional Mathematics Contest on March 30 at Chowan University with two students placing in the top four in individual competitions. Ebony Smith finished in a tie for fourth place in the Comprehensive Division. Justin Williford finished fourth overall in the Algebra II Competition, just one point out of a tie for second place. Shanece Kearney Arrested in New Jersey
In news from Millburn, New Jersey, at the retail store Nordstrom, a Shanece Kearney of Henderson N.C., used a credit card in March to charge $2,639 worth of merchandise and left the store. Later that day, Nordstrom received a call from a Nordstrom in Menlo Park stating that Kearney had been arrested by Edison police for attempting to use the same credit card, which belonged to another woman. Asheville Location has New Belgium Brewing Sought for East Coast Facility
RALEIGH—Gov. Bev Perdue today announced that New Belgium Brewing, the third largest craft brewer in the country and the maker of Fat Tire Amber Ale, will build its East Coast brewery in Buncombe County.
