Perry Memorial Library to Show Films From The Southern Documentary Fund

The Perry Memorial Library will be showing three films from the Southern Documentary Fund. All three films focus on some aspect of North Carolina’s culture and history.

On May 14 the library will show Doubletime. This film follows two jump rope teams, the Bouncing Bulldogs from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and the Double Dutch Forces from Columbia, South Carolina, as they train to compete against each other. The film highlights four young athletes who display courage and skill as they prepare for the big event.

On May 21 the library will show Bending Space. This film captures the genius of French photographer and installation artist Georges Rousse and follows the artist and two hundred volunteers during a September 2006 public art residency in Durham.

On June 4 the library will show February One. This film provides an intimate look at how four African-American freshmen at North Carolina A&T University took a stand for justice by sitting down at a Woolworth
whites-only lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina in February 1960.

All showings will start promptly at 6:30pm in the Farm Bureau Room of the Perry Memorial Library.
