Members of the Henderson Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Michael Louis Lackey, 36, of 1015 Lands End Court North Augusta, South Carolina. Mr. Lackey is wanted on one count of common law robbery and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.
Mr. Lackey allegedly on May 22, 2012 claimed to be the owner of a roofing company, M and L Roofing, and came to victim’s residence to obtain money for supplies. Mr. Lackey claimed to have over charged the elderly female victim and would refund her money, but needed a new check written before he could refund her. When the victim, an 80 year-old female, refused to write an additional check, Mr. Lackey allegedly aggressively shouted at the victim and took her walker in a threatening manner. The victim was forced to write a check and Mr. Lackey left the residence. Mr. Lackey later cashed the check at an area bank.
The victim’s identity has been withheld for her protection.
If anyone should have information on Mr. Lackey’s whereabouts they are encouraged to contact the Henderson Police Department at 252-438-4141 or Crime Stoppers at 252-492-1925. Callers may remain anonymous. Crime Stoppers may offer a reward up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
Candidate for a public whipping!
Clack and the Lackey guy looks like twins?
I attended last evening’s Community Watch meeting. I have also had the opportunity to hear a presentation by Judge Finch and Judge Bridges, our District Attorney Mr. Currin, and Sheriff White.
One significant, albeit very subtle, major factor that is negatively impacting our entire judicial system is the unwillingness of the people to force the legislature and local government to fully fund the entire judicial system and public school system. State and local budget cuts have reduced staffing throughout both systems. Automation and technology are wonderful tools in crime prevention and detection. They do not replace the people who must interview, arrest, convict, and incarcerate those unwilling or unable to control their impulse to do harm others. Automation and technology may be the wave of future knowledge. It does not replace the mentoring of a good teacher.
Response by law enforcement to a 911 call of a child left in an unintended car to the incarcerating those convicted of petty theft, to the arrest and conviction of cold murder cases are all linked by a common thread to budgets. Sentencing guidelines are budget centric, linked to cost of incarceration, probation, home confinement. Plea bargains and reduced charges are in part budget centric linked, to the cost of trial and incarceration. Staffing cuts of law enforcement causes a triaging of 911 emergency calls impacting response times.
The collective impact of State and local budget cuts on our judicial and educational systems may have saved us all a penny per thousands on property taxes, parts of a penny of sales tax at the checkout stand, a few dollars on our income tax. That savings is more than off-set through the increase cost of health, life, home owner’s and auto insurance due to criminal activity. All the while the uneducated and ill-educated, the mentally and emotionally impaired, the foolish and stupid, and the truly psychopathic continue to steal, maim, and kill.
We’ll happily fund them when they actually start doing their jobs.
Michael, I must say that you may have rubbed some folks in this town the wrong way but my opinion of you is changing rapidly. At times you came off as cynical but I have always appreciated the fact that unlike myself, you use your real name. The post you offered above is spot on and I could not agree more. Thank you, sir and please keep up the good work. More people read it than you realize.
