What is now routine for millions of Americans each day — checking an all-news cable television channel for the latest events around the world — began on this day in 1980. That’s when CNN — the Cable News Network — started its service. At the time, some critics questioned whether the public would be interested in a channel that carried nothing but news 24 hours a day. Now, there are not only a number of such news channels, but others dedicated fully to weather, golf, automobiles and cooking, among other special interests. When CNN began operations, about 16 million households were hooked up to cable. Today, cable television reaches nearly 66 million homes across the U.S. You can find these and more facts about America from the U.S. Census Bureau online at <www.census.gov>.

Holy smokes Batman! What dastardly deed has the Green Lantern done now?
Has assistance district attorney John Hindsman been sacked? According to the article in Sunday’s paper this assistant DA is more concerned in protecting Alec Gerial Proctor a serial drunk driver than to protect society from Alec Gerial Proctor. In 2005 Alec Gerial Proctor was driving drunk and killed Jackson Vogle. Seven years later he is again driving drunk this time on a jet ski. The Vogle’s had a letter they wanted to present to the Judge about the death of their son caused by Alec Gerial Proctor. The assistant district attorney John Hindsman denied the Vogle’s wish resulting in Alec Gerial Proctor getting the back of his hand slapped for another drunk driving charge.
We have all watched helplessly as criminals rotate through the judicial system. I hope John Hindsman is no longer on the County’s payroll. As a private attorney he would be free to defend drunk drivers, which he prefers to do instead of prosecuting them.
