Anonymous Reader: Spay & Neutering

Wake County, N.C. County Commissioners passed an ordinance supporting Trap-Neuter-Return of free-roaming, community cats on June 4, 2012. Wake County Animal Control will provide information about T-N-Vaccinate-R to residents who call about strayed or at-large cats.

The Spay-Neuter Assistance Program – NC (SNAP- NC) spayed & aborted at least one pregnant, free-roaming, community cat on June 6 when the mobile van came to the Vance County Animal Shelter. Several area volunteers coordinated efforts for a particular mom-in-waiting; payment came from an anonymous local organization, dedicated SNAP donation canister in an area business and private donation. The VCAS staff presented $15 vouchers from Humane Society- North Carolina to all who brought felines/canines to be spayed/ neutered that morning.

SNAP comes to Vance County next on Thursday, July 12 to Tractor Supply. Make reservations by calling 919-783-7627 or 919-553-1705.

The VCAS was immaculate when this writer made an additional visit on June 8. Sadly it was full of unwanted canines and felines, including a free-roaming, community cat with newborn kittens. It is a travesty that folks who cannot drive a feline/canine to VCAC to be s/n by SNAP can drive the same feline/canine and offspring there to be dumped. Speak up for those without a voice or a choice. Spay & Neuter. Find the dollars to give Chief Alex Hargrove and his dedicated staff, some of whom go the second and third mile beyond what might be expected, the tools they need to achieve what taxpayers expect and deserve.
