Henderson Police Investigating Saturday Homocide

On October 20, 2012 around 3:30 PM officer with the Henderson Police Department responded to the area of Thomas Street and Young Ave near the Springwood Apartment Complex in reference to a shooting that had occurred. During the course of the investigation it was determined that two people were shot. Gregory Welfare, 25, of Raleigh was transported to Maria Parham Medical Center where he expired from a shooting injury. Another individual, Lajohn Champion, 22, of Henderson is being treated at an area hospital for a gunshot wound. Investigation is being conducted by members of the Henderson Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division. Investigation is ongoing.
