Thanksgiving Day Open Line

Happy Thanksgiving Day everyone.  For HiH, I’m thankful to have a great community on this little website.  Thankful for the folks to take the time out of their day to write something for our readers to spark some thoughts and conversations. Thankful that you’re being patient with me working on our wish list, I haven’t forgotten, and am slowing getting some accomplished.

Be mindful that many offices, government and business are closed. Be sure to call your local business before going just to be sure they’re open. Not sure how many articles for the next few days during the holidays, but I’ll try to get any special local ones up and may leave the other press releases for next week.

Please be sure to submit anything you’d like us to run as an article to submit@homeinhenderson.com  Been kinda lacking there on the local articles.  The influx of recent opinion articles are great, but we also want your news, events, things to do, local pictures and even more stuff!

Now, on to our normal spiel:

Today is Thanksgiving Day, one of the most traditional of American holidays, thought to have begun in 1621 in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The holiday became national in scope in 1863, and the fourth Thursday of the month has been the official day since 1941. It’s a time that combines solemnity and joy — a time for family gatherings. In many of the nation’s 117.5 million households, people will share a special meal, typically turkey with all the traditional trimmings. U.S. farmers raise more than 248 million turkeys annually, worth more than $4 billion. Americans eat an average of over 13 pounds of turkey each year. The men and women of the U.S. Census Bureau wish you and your loved ones a joyful and peaceful Thanksgiving.
