Winter arrived this morning at 6:12 a.m., Eastern Standard Time. While some parts of the country already have a blanket of snow, others anxiously hope for a white Christmas. Still others have unhappy memories of recent winters and hope this one turns out to be milder. In the continental U.S., Rogers Pass, Montana holds the record low winter temperature at 70 below zero, followed by Peter’s Sink, Utah, just one degree warmer. The absolute lowest temperature ever recorded in the U.S. was at Prospect Creek, Alaska, an unbelievable 80 degrees below. Making residential snow blowers is part of a home and garden equipment manufacturing business worth $8.2 billion a year. I want to remind everyone, even those that express opinions I do not care for. a very Merry Christmas and a joyous New Year. Let us take time to reflect on ourselves, reach a unspoken agreement that we ALL put aside our petty differences, reason as adults, and quit acting like children in 2013. There are serious issues in our town that are not easily fixed. Murder has become the “NORM”, robbery occurs as often as the traffic lights change, and assaults are without number. To the African-American community I say; Why do you not realize that you are losing an entire generation? To the rest of us I say; When are we going to commence living in the 21st Century? When are we going to end OUR verbal assault on everyone and anyone who states anything that even REMOTELY approaches laying blame on anyone BUT the person responsible? It is no wonder to me that we can not seem to get companies to consider our area as a place to expand, with all the venom, bile, and discord spewed here on this blog for the ENTIRE WORLD to see! We have tried a few ideas. Let’s allow the meaning of Christmas last ALL year not just a day or two. Why not try it?
