The high school exam schedule to end the first semester in Vance County Schools has been announced.
First semester exams will be administered at Northern Vance, Southern Vance and Western Vance high schools on Thursday, January 10, and Friday, January 11, during the school day. First and third-period exams will be administered on Thursday, with second and fourth-period exams administered on Friday. Students will be dismissed at the regular time of 3:15 p.m. each day.
State end-of-course tests in selected courses and VoCats tests in Career and Technical Education courses will be administered at the three high schools Monday, January 14, through Thursday, January 17. On each of these days, testing will begin at 8 a.m. and will end prior to students being dismissed at 1:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided to students each day prior to dismissal.
All other schools, including the STEM program at Northern Vance, will operate on a normal schedule each day during the high school exam period.
At Northern Vance, Southern Vance and Western Vance, make-up exams can be done in the afternoon of each testing day with the permission of the teacher and principal. All make-up exams must be completed within 10 days of missed exams.
January 17 is the last day of the first semester of the 2012-2013 school year.
Western Vance High School will hold its mid-year graduation for eligible seniors at 7 p.m. on Friday, January 18, in the school’s gymnasium.
January 18 is a teacher workday at all schools (except Early College High School), with no school for students.
