Is there a logical reason to drive the kids to school for a three hour school day? The only logical reason that I have heard is so the school administrators can claim no loss of classroom time because Mother Nature decided we needed a little snow and ice. Apparently only morning classes are important.
Deception maybe you can offer some insight on this question.
If they run school until a certain time, it will count as a day. If not, the school will have to use a snow make up day. A parent can always choose not to send them for the few hours.
You can always choose to keep your child at home during what you consider to be a “wasted day”. If they get to school and get lunch then that will be one less day they have to make up out of the 180 REQUIRED days of instruction. If they would have cancelled the day altogether and end up having to use some of the Spring Break time you would probably be moaning/groaning about having already made reservations/plans for a spring vacation. Long story short……..no matter what the superintendants do about whether to cancel school or to delay school; you will NEVER be able to make everyone happy. I say spend a little more time during this ‘break’ with your kids and grab a good book and READ!!!!!!! With all the ills that are in the World today I find it amazing that some people complain about what is done as a safety precaution for YOUR children!!!!! WOW!!!!!
