Vance-Granville Community College’s eighth annual Earth Day festival is scheduled to be held on Monday, April 22, and organizers are inviting members of the community to participate.

The 2013 Earth Day celebration is set to take place outside on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County on April 22, from 10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. In case of rain, the event will be moved into the VGCC Civic Center. Each year, the event seeks to educate the college and community about conservation and the natural world in a fun, informative setting. VGCC faculty and staff members will be on hand with information and demonstrations related to their particular areas of expertise, and students will present their own projects and artwork. To promote healthy living, the event is also scheduled to feature a “fun run/walk” around the campus.

Businesses, community groups and individuals who are involved in natural sciences and environmental efforts, including sustainable agriculture, wildlife, energy and “green” practices, are encouraged to join the event.

There is no charge for participants to set up a booth, but space is limited. For more information about reserving your spot at Earth Day, call VGCC science instructor Dr. Dan Settles at (252) 738-3449 or e-mail settles@vgcc.edu.
