What is the purpose of the City Councils closed session on economic development matter. Another paint recycler? Another dubious hotel project to employ 36 minimum wage earners? Or another attempt to get the taxpayers to building Sam’s opery house?
Beware of all the doings at City Council Meetings, as well as Special Use Permits on Zoning Board Meetings. –. The very last thing Henderson needs is more apartments which promise to have ten percent of the units Section 8.
As long as apartments are built with that stipulation–there is no way Henderson will regain an owner occupied community–which many companies seem to prefer when looking for a prosperous area. Has anyone at Economic Development factored this in to their goal???
Prudence, somebody else pointed out that those benefiting from our principle business, government housing, don’t want the competition from the economic development the area needs. Besides without government housing where would the drug dealers live? Would we need six gambling dens, excuse me internet cafes with a sweepstake, if we had true economic development? How many pawn shops and metal recyclers are needed for 43,000 people?
