I began the week alongside many strong women participating in the Women Run the World New York Half Marathon in Central Park.
The following day, I watched in horror as the Boston Marathon was attacked by terrorists. In Boston, we witnessed acts of selflessness and heroism in our fellow Americans’ response to the attack. I hope you will join me in continuing to pray for the victims of this senseless act.
Over the past few days, support for the bill I sponsored, “The Cancer Patient Protection Act of 2013,” has gained momentum. There are currently 40 cosponsors and the list is growing. If you live outside the Second District, check the list below and contact your representatives to join as a cosponsor of this important bill.

We Are Golf’s “Lawmaker of the Year”
I’m honored that We Are Golf has recognized my work in Congress to help protect the industry and allow its economic impact to grow throughout the nation and North Carolina.
I will continue to fight for common sense policies that will put the American people back to work, remove costly regulations that are crippling our small businesses, and balance our budget so that we can help families and job creators across the country. I am very grateful for this award and would like to thank We Are Golf for the work they are doing to educate people on the game of golf and the many benefits it creates for our society and our economy.
