Vance County Schools will be hosting a Middle School Transition “Expo” for all rising sixth-grade students on Thursday, May 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Henderson Middle School.
The Expo is designed to offer valuable information to current fifth-grade students and their parents about the transition from elementary school to middle school as they look forward to the 2013-2014 school year.
The event at Henderson Middle will feature information booths manned by administrators, teachers, school counselors, social workers and other staff members from both Eaton-Johnson and Henderson middle schools. Parents and students will be given an abundance of information ranging from school day itineraries, academic requirements and expectations, bus transportation, school meals, school clubs, extracurricular opportunities, athletics and more. Those parents and students who attend also will participate in several break-out sessions designed to offer specific information about the middle school experience, during which they will have opportunities to ask middle school educators questions.
Current fifth-grade students attending elementary schools that next year will send students on to Eaton-Johnson Middle School and fifth graders going to elementary schools that will send students to Henderson Middle School next year are urged to attend the Expo with their parents. The event is for all rising sixth graders across Vance County.
Plan to attend the Vance County Schools’ Middle School Transition “Expo” on May 2 and receive valuable information to be better prepared for middle school.
