VGCC and FVW Opportunity to hold Women’s Business Luncheon/Expo

Franklin-Vance-Warren Opportunity, Inc.’s Women’s Economic Equity Council and the Vance-Granville Community College Small Business Center are partnering to host an event that will salute women in business.

“Success Becomes Her,” a luncheon and expo presented by BB&T, is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 from noon until 2 p.m. in the Civic Center on VGCC’s Main Campus in Vance County. The doors will open at 11 a.m.

The luncheon program will feature a motivational keynote speech by Jennifer Faulkner, a professional career coach and writer of the “JenOnJobs” blog (jenonjobs.com), as well as the presentation of the “Professional Woman of the Year” award. Nominations for this award must be submitted by May 10 to: FVW – WEE Council, PO Box 1453, Henderson, NC 27536, (252) 492-6250 (Fax) or jennifergregory@fvwopp.com. Attendees will also hear inspiring interviews with Women’s Economic Equity (WEE) project participants.

All proceeds from this event will be used to further the mission of the FVW Women’s Economic Equity Council and the WEE Boutique, which provides proper job interview attire, career coaching and job search assistance for disadvantaged women entering or returning to the workforce.

Following the luncheon, the public will be invited to join guests for an expo featuring women-owned businesses, as well as businesses and organizations catering to women in local communities.

Spaces for expo vendors and sponsorship opportunities are available. Non-profit organizations may set up displays at no charge.
