VGCC to offer Anatomy & Physiology prep course

For the first time, Vance-Granville Community College will soon offer a “boot camp” that students can take to prepare for the VGCC Anatomy & Physiology (or “A&P”) course, just before the fall semester begins.

The two-day A&P Boot Camp will be held on Wednesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 15 from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. (including a one-hour break for lunch) in room 5212 on the college’s Main Campus in Vance County.

Students who participate will have a chance to practice skills in note-taking, reading comprehension and studying for labs and tests, so that they can be more successful in A&P and other science and health courses. Button Brady, a longtime VGCC Biology instructor, will conduct the camp.

Anatomy & Physiology I and II (BIO 168 and BIO 169) are required courses for students in the Associate Degree Nursing program. Basic Anatomy & Physiology (BIO 163) is a required course for the Radiography and Medical Assisting programs. The courses have been approved for transfer to four-year universities under the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement with the UNC System and the Independent Comprehensive Articulation Agreement with certain private institutions of higher education.

The cost of the boot camp is $90 per person. Pre-registration is required. For more information and to pre-register, contact Theresa Somerville at (252) 738-3427 or somervillet@vgcc.edu.
