Perry Memorial Library Restored Portraits To Be Unveiled

The Perry Memorial Library is pleased to announce that portraits of Colonel Henry Perry, Jane Hall Perry, and H. Leslie Perry have been restored and will be unveiled at a public ceremony on Monday, August 19, 2013 at 6:30 p.m. on the first floor of the Perry Memorial Library.

Colonel Henry Perry and his wife Jane Hall Perry, along with H. Leslie Perry’s widow Flora McKinnon Perry, were responsible for the founding of what is today known as the Perry Memorial Library.  It was on May 19, 1924 that the Perry’s received from the state of North Carolina a charter of incorporation for the H. Leslie Perry Memorial Library.  The library opened to the public on September 1, 1924 with Miss Bertie H. Craig hired as the first librarian.
