County Commissioners’ meeting packet
I am amazed that the Board overseeing a $43 million budget allows the senior executive managing that budget to submit such an incomplete report as the one on page 17 of the current Vance County Board of Commissioners meeting packet.
The packet submitted by the County Manager contains zero specific information on the largest project this County is pushing into residences’ homes. A couple weeks ago a sub-committee of the Water Board (another name for the Board of Commissioners) met to review and approve the vendor to provide water meters. There was a question asked by one Commissioner that the “Project Engineer” was unable to answer. The same “Project Engineer” who has repeatedly been unable to answer specific questions asked by the Commissioners.
Near the end of the sub-committee meeting another Commissioner asked again about the cost of water to the final customer. The County Manager answered the question saying that policies had not been completed so the cost of water is unknown. Yes, because the policies had not been written the cost of water is unknown less than 60 days before those who bought it will have to pay for it.
So for tomorrow’s Board meeting the County Manager has provided zero information for the public to examined and discussed before the uninformed “Project Engineer” makes his off-the-cuff presentation.
Is this how you expect a Board to overseeing the spending of your tax dollars?
