VGCC offers Sewing class at Franklin Campus

Vance-Granville Community College will offer a Sewing class on the college’s Franklin County Campus near Louisburg.

The course, taught by Karen Boyd of Wake Forest, will be held on Monday evenings from 6 until 9 p.m., Oct. 7 through Nov. 25. Beginners to sewing are welcome, according to Boyd. “We will start with the basics, including how to pick out patterns, how to cut fabric, and how to sew on a button,” she said. “We will learn how to put garments together, along with tote bags, pillows or curtains.” Boyd said that input from the class would help determine their projects, and students should leave the class with completed items that they can use.

The total cost per person, including all fees, is $45. Students must be age 16 years or older.

Registration in advance is required. The deadline to register is Tuesday, Oct. 1. For more information, contact Theresa Somerville at (252) 738-3427 or SomervilleT@vgcc.edu.
