Vance-Granville Community College’s Chi Beta Chi chapter of Phi Beta Lambda, the business student organization, recently elected officers for the 2013-2014 year. New officers were installed and members were inducted at a ceremony on Sept. 24 on VGCC’s Main Campus.

The officers include president David Henry of Macon, vice president Eric Person of Kittrell, secretary Hannah Davis of Henderson, treasurer Dashaun Cheek of Oxford, and Veronica Yount of Townsville and Jessica Nava of Oxford, who are sharing the responsibility of the office of reporter/historian. The chapter advisors are Business Administration instructor Derrick Cameron and Business Administration/Accounting/Entrepreneurship program head Carl Hann, Jr.

VGCC Academic and Career Pathways advisor Anthony Pope was a special guest at the ceremony and performed the formal installation of officers and induction of members. In addition to students, several VGCC faculty, staff members and alumni are “professional division” members of the chapter.

In closing remarks, Carl Hann congratulated the new officers on serving as leaders for what he said is “a special group” at VGCC. “You have a great tradition to carry forward, because in its short history, this PBL chapter has proven itself, winning numerous awards and representing Vance-Granville very well on the state and national levels,” Hann said.

Phi Beta Lambda is the national organization for college students who are preparing for a variety of careers in business. The Greek letters stand for the English words “Future Business Leaders,” and PBL is affiliated with the Future Business Leaders of America, an organization for high school students.
