This is National American Indian Heritage Month, also called Native American Heritage Month. Either way, it’s observed with a wide variety of events across the country. The 2010 Census counted 5.2 million American Indians and Alaska Natives in the U.S., 1.7 percent of the total population. California is home to the highest number of these groups, at over 723,000, followed by Oklahoma at nearly 483,000. Los Angeles County leads all of the nation’s counties with the number of people in this racial category. American Indians and Alaska Natives are the largest minority group in five states across the U.S. You can find more facts about America’s people, places and economy from the American Community Survey, at <www.census.gov>.

Way to go Southern Vance and it’s administration!! Not only did you not follow the rules that say that any player(s) ejected from a game shall not be deemed eligible for the next game it also seems that if the Coach at South Columbus hadn’t brought it to the attention of the NCHSAA then Southern Vance’s Coaches/Athletic Director would have never suspended the player. What kind of example is being set that the rules will only be followed and enforced only when someone brings it to the public’s attention? Is that leadership? I seriously doubt that the player would have ever been suspened for 1 game had the Coach at South Columbus not brought it to the NCHSAA’s attention. Way to go SVHS……not only did you bring shame to Vance County for letting the thugs play ball(fight); it seems as if you were hoping it would be swept under the rug!! Rules? Evidently SVHS and it’s Coaches don’t think they apply to them?
That’s 2 fights(one very ugly w/NVHS/Webb) that happened at the 2 High Schools football games within the past 3 weeks. Is that what a “student athlete” looks like in Vance County? You wonder why so many parents are disgusted with Vance County Schools? Look in the mirror!! Shame on anyone who thought they could get away with letting that boy play in a game that he shouldn’t have been allowed to participate!!! It’s enough blame to go around from the Athletic Director to the Coach to the Principal……pick one and you will be correct in scolding any of them!!! Shame!! Shame!! Shame!!!
I told anyone who would listen that the boy that was ejected from the football game was one of the starters and that explains why the administration/coaches/Athletic Director all seemed to hope that it was swept under the rug. Thanks to the Coaching Staff @ South Columbus for bringing it to the publics attention. What a nice reputation to have in Vance County…..we seem to have an answer as to one of the problems of our youth!! Dishonest people in leadership positions who seemingly will try to curtail the RULES…..at least until they are caught!! I am glad they lost and I wish South Columbus would have been awarded the “W” against SVHS b/c they for lack of a better word!!!!! CHEATED!!!!
Time to take some English classes Deception–. Check out the usage rules for apostrophes and exclamation points–a review of tenses is also in order.
Administration, coaches and A.D. were in the wrong, now what will the School Board do about it?
Deception makes a good point. If the Head Coach and AD knew about the rule, they should not have permitted the player to participate in the next game, even if they were not notified by the NCHSAA. In addition, after the rule violation became public knowledge, Southern Vance should have forfeited the game to South Columbus.
This, added to the brawl after the recent NV-Webb game, reflects poorly upon Vance County.
Prudence……take some classes on what is RIGHT and WRONG!!!! Put that in your comma, exclamation point, and question marks!! You are probably one of the “exposed” and got caught trying to CHEAT in order to win a dang football game…..Here’s a suggestion to you and your Holier than Thou Crew….take some time out of your useless life and go tutor some of these young men/women on how to be productive citizens and not the thugs they appear to be!!! Put that in your pipe and smoke on that awhile!!
The School Board will do just as you have done…..absolutely nothing other than opening your pie-hole or in your case….your keyboard!!! I challenge you to make a difference in a young person’s life….I do…..EVERYDAY!!!!! I have no time for ignorant people who sit back and think they know all the answers while they sip tea with the neighbors over at the Country Club. If you would like to meet….feel free to leave your contact info. I’m not sure if I can find the CLUB you hang around but I’m sure if I put it into GPS I will be able to find it. Enjoy your duck and lambchop dinner!!
A CHEAT is a CHEAT….regardless of position or power!!!! If it walks like the duck(you eat),talks like a duck(you enjoy), and looks like a duck(you enjoy @ the club)……Honey Boo Boo….it’s not AFLAC!!!!
beyond rude
Here’s another example of what the city of Henderson and county of Vance thinks about its youth. Why would you have the Public Library Closed for 4+ days during the Thanksgiving Holiday. The kids have been out of school since Tuesday which will mean that of the 5 days they are on Break the Public Library isn’t open so they have somewhere to go read a book….use a computer….or simply do a little research to get ready for end of semester exams.
I attended the VGAP meeting @ Henderson Middle School the other night and there were less than 50 people in attendance(mostly cops/presenters/speakers). Less than 25 “concerned citizens” were in attendance. You wonder why kids get into Gang Life? During 5 days when schools are closed this week they don’t have access to the Public Library nor to the Aycock Recreation Center. Why wouldn’t they join a gang? At least with the gang affiliation they can go play ball at Chestnut St. and not have to worry about protection b/c they would have it with the gang. Vance County leaders tend to speak out of both sides of their mouths!!! Don’t worry your lil’ head though……it’s an O.G.(Original Gangsta) just waiting to get your lil’ ones into the Thug Life Style.
While on the subject of cheating, cover ups, etc. Can anybody shed any light on the results of the “so called investigation” of the brawl between Northern Vance and Webb after the football game. The Dispatch reported that an assistant coach was being investigated for assaulting a Webb player. Video of same was posted as well as pictures, but little information has been shared with the public since.
Deception: Just gotta say, you are among the meanest and ignorant trolls I have ever witnessed. And before you go off half-cocked, I don’t belong to the country club.
Publius….just gotta say, you are among the meanest and ignorant trolls I have ever witnessed? MAYBE….but I also guarantee you that you don’t meet many like me in “yo hood” because while you sit amongst your Country Club Members sippin’ on y’alls tea…I speak the truth and deep down inside you it affects places that you can’t/don’t like to talk about to your fellow Club Members. Like I have said Thousands and Thousands of times……Statistics Don’t LIE….People LIE!!! Keep drinking that same ole’ tea and I will drink my Kool-Aid b/c it’s obvious that my Kool-Aid has more of a Truthful ingredient than yours does. Enjoy your Christmas parties @ the Club while we try to figure out how to make at least one child feel like someone in this God-Awful Town gives a rat’s “a-s” about them. Let me know when you want to get your hands dirty and get out and help with the less fortunate….We would love to have someone of your self proclaimed intelligence!!! I’ll be waiting!!!! Just won’t be holding my breath!!!
Deception, it is past time for you give it a rest. There are some professional people in this area and near-by who could help with your anger management issuess. If as you have claimed you are a professional educator, hopefully your students only know the Dr. Jekyll in you.
