VGCC to Launch New Software for Hiring Process

Later this month, Vance-Granville Community College (VGCC) will launch a new robust web-based software solution to automate and streamline the application / hiring process and to improve communications with job applicants.

The software, PeopleAdmin, is a leader in talent management solutions for higher education and government employers. More than 700 organizations utilize PeopleAdmin, including many North Carolina community colleges and universities in the UNC System.

Now, applicants will apply for positions at VGCC directly through the college’s website (vgcc.edu). The software will allow the College to end the current practice of accepting paper applications.

New users will be able to create an account, upload resume materials, search available positions and apply for jobs, all electronically at the site. Returning users will be able to edit their existing application, apply for new jobs, review the status of current positions to which they have applied and email job postings to friends.

“The goal of implementing the new software is to make the process easier for applicants, who will have greater access to information and know exactly what is required to apply for each position,” said Katherine Williamson, Director of Human Resources at VGCC. “We believe this will foster stronger communication between applicants and Human Resources, and expedite the process.”

Applicants will be able to upload a resume, cover letter and unofficial transcripts along with additional information. The reference process will also be completed electronically. Each applicant’s personal information will be transmitted securely by PeopleAdmin’s encryption software, which uses industry best practices. Applicants will receive a system-generated email after an application is submitted. The system will also generate emails to users when there is a task to be completed.

“We are very excited about implementing this new software,” said Stacey Carter-Coley, VGCC’s Vice President of Employee and Public Relations. “It will allow us to move past the manual paper application process that we currently have to a more sustainable, efficient way to recruit and hire exceptional faculty and staff members.”
