VGCC hosts CCP Information Sessions for high school students and parents

Vance-Granville Community College will hold a series of sessions offering information for high school students and their parents on the “Career and College Promise” (CCP) program. CCP allows eligible students to pursue a college degree, diploma or certificate while still in high school, without having to pay college tuition.

These information sessions will be held on Tuesday, May 13, from 4 until 5:30 p.m. at the Warren County Campus in Warrenton; Wednesday, May 14, from 4 until 5:30 p.m. at the Main Campus near Henderson; Tuesday, May 20, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin County Campus near Louisburg; Wednesday, May 21, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at South Campus between Butner and Creedmoor; Tuesday, May 27, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Warren County Campus; and Thursday, May 29, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at the Main Campus.

Students and parents from anywhere in the four-county service area are invited to attend the meeting of their choice, and are not limited to attending the campus in their county. However, seating is limited at each location.

Attendees will learn about new options being introduced to the program, how CCP can benefit students and parents, eligibility requirements, transferring credits to four-year universities, and the application/registration process. This information will help students prepare to enroll and register for classes in the Fall 2014 semester.

VGCC’s unique Career and College Promise pathways lead to students acquiring entry-level job skills and/or credits that transfer to four-year universities. The scheduled information sessions will focus on the College Transfer and the Career & Technical Education Pathways.

Students who select the College Transfer option will take general education courses that transfer seamlessly to any public or participating private college or university. VGCC will offer two programs of study: the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science college transfer pathways. Each program of study has a prescribed set of courses.

VGCC’s Career & Technical Education Pathways allow students to potentially earn certificates in Business Management, Cosmetology, Early Childhood Education, Infant/Toddler Care, Manicuring/Nail Technology, Medical Transcription Specialist, and School-Age Care, or diplomas in Carpentry and Welding Technology.
