VGCC names new Dean of Warren Campus
Mitch Evans was recently named Dean of Vance-Granville Community College’s Warren County Campus. Evans has served in the North Carolina Community College System for 22 years, including almost five years at VGCC. In his new leadership role, Evans is responsible for supervising all operations at the satellite campus in Warrenton, including both the curriculum and continuing education courses offered there. Wide Open Bluegrass festival to remain in Raleigh through 2018
The Wide Open Bluegrass festival, which relocated to Raleigh from Nashville last year, will remain in the Capital City through 2018, organizers announced Tuesday (yesterday). The Whole Hog Barbecue Championship will be included as part of the festival. The N.C. Pork Council will also have samples of barbecue from the western, Triad and eastern parts of the state. Federal Warrants Served
On Monday, May 12, 2014, members of the Henderson Police Department arrested Wayne Elliott Hubbard, 27, 127 Granite Street in Henderson. Hubbard’s arrest stems from a federal grand jury returning indictments charging Hubbard with one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and one count of possession of ammunition. Hubbard was placed in the Vance County Jail without privilege of bond pending an initial hearing in federal court. The charges in this matter stem from an incident …
